Chief Executive OfficerFuture Group
Kishore Biyani is the Group CEO of Future Group, one of India’s leading business houses with businesses in retail; capital and investment advisory services; consumer finance; insurance; brand development; retail media and logistics. Headquartered in Mumbai, the group has a footprint in 53 cities in India and employs over 25,000 people.
Kishore founded Pantaloons in 1997, followed by a number of popular retail formats including Big Bazaar, Central, Food Bazaar, Brand Factory and Home Town, which cater to a wide cross-section of Indian consumers.
A staunch believer in the group’s corporate credo, ‘Rewrite Rules, Retain Values,’ Kishore considers ‘Indianness’ as the core value driving the group. He recently authored the book, ‘It Happened In India,’ which reflects his beliefs that we need to ‘look into the heritage of the country for inspiration and innovation, instead of looking beyond our borders’. He also suggests that a ‘look-west’ mentality is inadequate to understand the needs of the local customer. His book also identifies the emergence of the ‘creative economy’ as opposed to a ‘knowledge economy’ and the need for companies across industry sectors to adopt innovation to drive their business.
